Campfire Radio Theater Wins Podbean Top 10 Podcast For 2019!
Once again, Campfire Radio Theater has landed in a Top 10 spot, and we are grateful! Podbean has hosted over 250,000 podcasts since its inception, and we are proud to be one of them. I found out recently that Campfire Radio Theater had around 250,000 downloads for the year, which is a wonderful surprise given that we are a small, independent outfit.
While CRT only produced a couple of new episodes for 2019, people are still listening to and downloading the back catalog. John Ballentine, the producer and creator of the show, started CRT in 2011 and has created over 20 original episodes since then, reviving the classic audio drama format for the modern ear.
I was brought on as a composer in 2014 with the episode “The Philadelphia Xperiment”. Since then, I’ve contributed acting, writing, and producing duties alongside my scoring work. It is not always easy carving out time to produce these complex soundscapes, but the reception makes it always rewarding.
Looking Ahead: “Gerald” and More
2019 had its share of setbacks (technological and health-related), yet there remain new stories to tell. I am currently working on a production of “Gerald,” a great story from Bill Gray that was originally produced for the classic CBC series Nightfall. Bill has been kind enough to grant CRT permission to produce two of his stories, the first being “The Dentist,” which we released back in 2013.
I look forward to sharing our adaptation of “Gerald” soon. In addition, John has a stack of stories in various stages of development, ensuring the campfire will keep burning bright.
