Campfire Radio Theater – “Abominations”

Campfire Radio Theater - "Abominations" A brand new episode of Campfire Radio Theater has just been released to give you a fright. Please do have a listen, preferably in the dark somewhere that is very quiet. Bonus points for listening with headphones while alone. Composer side note: This episode presented a fun challenge of writing a piece of carousel music. Thanks to John Scott Ballentine for always providing me with entertaining challenges as a composer. A small town carnie with big ambitions is spooked and intrigued by the uncanny abilities of a mysterious old man living under the carnival fairgrounds.......

Campfire Radio Theater – “The Bones of Saint Nicholas”

Campfire Radio Theater - "The Bones of Saint Nicholas" John Ballentine presents a wonderfully twisted Christmas story, not to mention a wonderful musical challenge for me, in the latest episode of Campfire Radio Theater. Being a fan of "Silent Night Deadly Night" (especially the score) made this project even more fascinating to work on. There is something about blending holidays and horror together that is intriguing, especially when that holiday happens to be Christmas. This episode also features Dani Aviles, someone I have collaborated on various music projects over the last 10+ years. She provides her usual high-quality vocals on......

Campfire Radio Theater – “The Ghost of Lori Keegan”

Campfire Radio Theater - "The Ghost of Lori Keegan" In composing music for audio drama, I make every effort to create the strongest emotional connections between the music and the story. I'm no stranger to being bullied as a kid, and being a parent of two children, this story presented a real challenge for me. It was painful to hear the experiences of Lori unfold, but it provided a truly visceral experience to draw upon emotionally. This episode helped me to dig deeply into my own psyche and channel music that I believe helped illuminate this powerful story created by......

The Plot To Overthrow Christmas

If you've read much on my site, then you know I love audio drama. One of my favorite stories comes from Norman Corwin. "The Plot To Overthrow Christmas" was written in 1938. The first time I heard it was as a teenager in a small town. The 1942 version of the play was aired on WSIU, the same station where I heard Nightfall, A Canticle For Leibowitz, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Star Wars, The Fourth Tower Of Inverness, and many more. I did a bit of remastering to remove quite a bit of hum, hiss, clicks, pops, and......

Campfire Radio Theater – “The Thing on the Ground Floor”

Campfire Radio Theater - "The Thing on the Ground Floor" Prior to the completion of the "Gerald" episode, Campfire Radio Theater released two additional stories for 2020. The second is "The Resurrectionist," a two-part story featuring Tanja Milojevic as Trisha. On October 31st 2019, the taping of a law enforcement reality show went terribly wrong as an unspeakable terror was unleashed on an unsuspecting film crew. We have the found footage “lost” tape of the legendary Talbert Building Incident. Warning: Contains explicit language and frightening situations. Written, directed and produced by John Ballentine Cast Tanja Milojevic John Bell Linda Wojtowick......
