Campfire Radio Theater – “Death and Alchemy”

The leaves begin to fall, the temperature drops, and the stench of death permeates the air. We present “Death and Alchemy,” a gothic tale adapted from the short story “The Doctor in the Dungeon” by Patrick Moody.

This episode also features a special intro segment titled “Red Apron,” written, directed, and produced by Kevin Hartnell, which listeners have praised as a “hilarious and clever” addition to the broadcast.

The Story: Sins of Science

“It is the 29th of October as I commit these words to paper… I know now as I rot alone in this dungeon, this may well be the last glimmer of light I ever lay eyes upon.”

In the damp shadows of Victorian London, Dr. Hawley sits imprisoned, listening to the shouts of a hangman’s mob outside. Driven by grief and obsession, he sought to cheat death and resurrect his beloved Elizabeth. But the alchemy he unleashed has consequences far worse than the grave.

The dead have returned, but they are not the souls he knew. They are mindless, soulless creatures with an insatiable hunger for the flesh of the living.
