Red Apron: A Campfire Radio Theater Parody
In the world of horror audio drama, sometimes a little dark humor is the perfect palate cleanser. “Red Apron” is a satirical take on meal delivery services, written and produced specifically for Campfire Radio Theater back in October of 2017.
The skit serves as a tongue-in-cheek spinoff of the Campfire Radio Theater episode “Ravenous,” which followed a journalist investigating cannibal legends in the Scottish coastal village of Redmayne. Loosely based on the infamous Sawney Bean legend, “Ravenous” provided the perfect macabre lore to birth the excellent character of Mr. Cook played so adeptly by Robert Cudmore.
The “Red Apron” promo aired in two parts during the October 2, 2017 episode, “Death and Alchemy,” a tale about a Victorian doctor attempting to resurrect the dead via dark alchemy. Part one of the promo set the stage before the episode began, while part two served as a gruesome punchline at the end.
